Roderick Stewart

Seismologist

Roderick Stewart, a Scottish geophysicist, specializes in volcano-seismology. With experience in diverse seismological areas, including monitoring nuclear explosions and geothermal energy extraction, he has worked at observatories in Papua New Guinea and Montserrat. Currently with the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty Organisation, he contributes to global seismic station construction and uses data to monitor volcanic activity, also engaging in discussions for a global volcano-warning system with the civil aviation industry.

Dr. Thomas Christopher

Volcanologist

Dr. Thomas Christopher, a Degassing Volcanologist/Petrologist at MVO, studies volcanic degassing, petrology, and geochemistry. He earned a geology degree at UWI Mona, worked at MVO, and completed a PhD at Cambridge, focusing on the 2001 Mt Etna eruption’s lava types.

Dr. Karen Pascal

Volcanologist

Dr. Pascal is a volcanologist specialized in volcano-deformation monitoring and modelling, and is the lead of the MVO volcano-geodesy program. Additionally, she collaborates in interdisciplinary projects, working alongside the community and volcanic risk management stakeholders, to reduce the impacts of volcanic risks.

Dr. Adam Stinton

Volcanologist

Dr. Adam Stinton, a Volcanologist at MVO, monitors Soufriere Hills volcano’s activity, focusing on changes in the lava dome and fumaroles. His research explores the geomorphic impacts of volcanic activity, including pyroclastic flows and lahars, while ongoing monitoring projects include aerial photogrammetry and fumarole temperature logging.
