Montserrat Volcano Observatory Enhances Visitor Experience with Improved Signage

The Montserrat Volcano Observatory (MVO) has recently upgraded its directional signage both leading to  to the facility and throughout the compound as part of ongoing efforts to improve the visitor experience.

The new signage is designed to make it easier for members of the public, schools, community groups, and visitors to locate the Observatory, navigate the compound, and access key areas upon arrival.

While the upgrade may seem like a small change, it forms part of the MVO’s broader commitment to creating a welcoming, accessible, and informative environment for everyone who visits the Observatory.

“The MVO welcomes thousands of visitors each year, including residents, students, researchers, and visitors to Montserrat. Clear and visible signage helps ensure that everyone can easily find their way and make the most of their experience at the Observatory,” said Thiffanie Williams, Education and Outreach Coordinator.

The Montserrat Volcano Observatory serves as the island’s primary volcanic monitoring agency and is also an important educational resource, providing opportunities for the public to learn about the Soufrière Hills Volcano, volcanic hazards, monitoring techniques, and Montserrat’s unique volcanic history.

Visitors to the MVO can explore educational displays, view volcanic rock samples, watch a documentary on the eruption and its impacts, and learn about the scientific work undertaken by Observatory staff.

The signage improvements are one of several initiatives being undertaken to enhance the visitor experience and support the MVO’s education and outreach programme.

Members of the public are encouraged to visit the Observatory and experience the updated facilities for themselves.
