MVO Welcomes Student Intern Dalaiah St. Paul
The Montserrat Volcano Observatory (MVO) is pleased to welcome Dalaiah St. Paul, a Third Form student at the Montserrat Secondary School, who has joined the team for a three-week student internship.
Dalaiah, who has a passion for Geography, will spend the next three weeks gaining insight into the work carried out at the Observatory and learning more about volcano monitoring, science, and the different roles that support MVO’s operations.
During her internship, Dalaiah will explore the various areas of MVO, including the Operations Room, monitoring systems, instrumentation, data management, and outreach activities. She will have the opportunity to meet members of the MVO team and learn how scientists, technicians, and support staff work together to monitor the Soufrière Hills Volcano and provide important information to the people of Montserrat.
The internship will provide Dalaiah with a firsthand look at how science, technology, and communication come together in volcano monitoring and public safety. Through her experiences, she will also explore the connection between Geography, Earth sciences, and the work of a modern volcano observatory.
Throughout her internship, Dalaiah will document her learning journey through weekly blog posts, sharing her experiences, discoveries, and reflections with the MVO community.
The MVO team welcomes Dalaiah and looks forward to supporting her learning experience over the next three weeks.
