MVO Recognizes Top Graduating Science Students from Montserrat’s Primary Schools
The Montserrat Volcano Observatory (MVO) is pleased to announce the recipients of its 2025 Most Outstanding Grade 6 Science Performer Awards:
- Antwan Lee – Brades Primary School
- Maxwell Ryan – St. Augustine Catholic Primary School
- Inistia Morson – Lookout Primary School
Each year, as part of its commitment to public education and science engagement, the MVO honours students from Montserrat’s primary schools who demonstrate exceptional promise in the field of science. The award is presented to members of the graduating Grade 6 class, recognizing not only academic performance but also curiosity, critical thinking, and enthusiasm for scientific exploration.
This initiative forms part of the Observatory’s broader outreach mission to promote scientific literacy and inspire the next generation of Montserratian scientists, engineers, and innovators. The MVO believes that early recognition of scientific talent plays a vital role in fostering confidence and a sustained interest in science-related fields.
“Encouraging young learners at this stage is especially important,” said Thiffanie Williams, Education and Outreach Coordinator at MVO. “These students are stepping into a wider world of education, and it’s our hope that this award motivates them to keep asking questions, exploring nature, and engaging with science both inside and outside the classroom.”
All three recipients were formally recognized during their schools’ graduation ceremonies in July.
The MVO extends its heartfelt congratulations to Antwan, Maxwell, and Inistia, and wishes them continued success as they begin their secondary school journey. The Observatory remains committed to supporting science education on Montserrat and looks forward to expanding its outreach programmes in the years ahead.
