Activity at the Soufrière Hills Volcano remains at a low level.

The seismic network recorded eighteen rockfalls and four volcano-tectonic events this week.

The average sulphur dioxide measurement over five days this week was 447 tons per day with a maximum of 614 and a minimum of 250 tons per day.

Good clear views of the lava dome this week showed no significant changes. Spots of incandescence (glowing) were observed on the lava dome on several nights in the last week and demonstrate that the dome is still > 500 oC in places.

Despite the low level of activity, sporadic pyroclastic flows will continue to occur without any warning. The Hazard Level is 3. There is no access to the terrestrial Zone C and only daytime transit access to shipping through the maritime extension of the zone.
