There were good viewing conditions during our observation flight on 20 November 2012. We were able to get very clear views of the southern flank of the dome but not, alas, of the summit. Photos can be seen on our Flickr pages.

MVO's report prepared for the seventeenth meeting of the Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC 17) is now available for the public to download here.

It was developed for SAC members in preparation for the SAC 17 meeting. The report summarizes all volcanic activity from the period of 1 May to 12 October 2012, including monitoring and visual observations. In addition to scientific information, it also includes information about MVO's monitoring networks and operations.

Here's a short video showing the current condition of Plymouth as seen from the helicopter. This might be of interest to a lot of Montserratians and Montserratophiles as no-one is allowed to visit Plymouth. In making this video, the helicopter circled Plymouth, then passed over the centre of the devastation.

You can watch it on the MVO YouTube channel.

In October the Scientific Advisory Committee and the MVO were asked by NDPRAC to assess the risk for use of the Plymouth jetty for sand export. The attached report is the result of an interim assessment and a revision of this during SAC 16 14-16 November.

The report is available for download here.
