There is something spectacular in my back yard

Not an animal or a boring toy

It is a volcano !

I wonder if I should feed it.

I will be nice to it

‘Do unto others as you wish them to treat you.’

But I soon found out the volcano would bite

When the explosion started on Saturday night

Sleeping like an angel in my spooky bedroom

Suddenly there was a rumble.

Was it a parade with drums ?

No, it is too early, too soon.

My bedside clock says it is not yet noon.

Screaming, I ran, and my Mom said

“What on earth are you doing out of bed?”

Mom, Didn’t you hear the rumble?

Can’t you smell the sulphur?”

Why does the place look so foggy?”

Why does the earth tremble ?

I can see it from my window

The radio says – an eruption !!!

That is the end of us

Because there is a volcano

Close to us, not far from us

Right in our backyard
