Ash from the volcano swirls all around

The wind blows it high up off the ground

As I look around my little backyard

What I discovered made my heart beat hard

Healthy vegetables and flowers are growing

All the different varieties are showing

Dark soil mixed with rich volcanic ash

Add sunshine and water by the dash.

The grass is lush and soft to touch

My animals are fat from eating too much

Butterflies fly and birds chirp in delight

My garden has become a spectacular sight.

Respect the volcano it is not all bad

It gives us nice things that make us glad

Look in your backyard, what do you see?

Write a poem and read it to me?
