MVO uses data from four borehole dilatometers - instruments that record hydrostatic ground strain - sited around the island. In the past, changes in ground strain have accompanied, and perhaps heralded, major volcanic events. We seek an enthusiastic intern with strong computing abilities to help develop algorithms for strain analysis based on an assessment of past events. These algorithms could then be applied to real time or near-real time data to assist analysis.
