The staff of the MVO is composed of geoscientists, electronics and computer specialists, science technicians and administrative professionals drawn from Montserrat, the Caribbean and other parts of the world. Local personnel have provided the mainstay of the monitoring operations from the inception of the MVO.

Since April 2008, the MVO has been jointly managed by the UWI Seismic Research Centre (SRC ) and the Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris (IPGP).
